MATH 103 - Contemporary Math 3 Credit Hour(s)
This is a survey course that will emphasize the development of critical thinking and quantitative reasoning skills for the non-math/science major. It is not intended for anyone where advanced mathematical concepts would be used (e.g. mathematics, engineering, economics or science). The course will help to prepare students to analytically engage with the world around them. Logic, reasoning, probability and statistics and matrix algebra will be used in the problem solving.
Prerequisite(s): *Completion of the ACCUPLACER Test , ACT, SAT or ALEKS PPL is required for students prior to enrolling in their first math course. Multiple Measures for placement may be considered.
Math ACT: 18 or higher
Math SAT: 510 or higher
ALEKS PPL: 30 or higher
Accuplacer: 255 or higher
Multiple Measures:
- HS GPA and Course Grade- 3.0 GPA and B- or higher in second semester Algebra 2 or equivalent course
